{"id":611,"date":"2016-01-11T12:19:18","date_gmt":"2016-01-11T12:19:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fcara.org.uk\/?p=611"},"modified":"2016-01-11T12:19:18","modified_gmt":"2016-01-11T12:19:18","slug":"draft-council-guidance-on-roof-and-rear-extensions-have-your-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fcara.org.uk\/?p=611","title":{"rendered":"Draft Council Guidance on Roof and Rear Extensions &#8211; Have Your Say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tower Hamlets Council has produced new draft guidance on mansard roof extensions and, as part of this, some guidelines\u00a0specifically for properties\u00a0in the Fairfield Conservation Area. \u00a0After consultation and any amendments, the new guidance will probably be in\u00a0place in early 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The guidance\u00a0contains information on the most relevant planning policies that the council must consider when making planning application decisions; the character of historic roofs in Tower Hamlets; the elements of mansard roofs and best practice advice on how you should approach the design of a new mansard roof in a conservation area; and finally, the document includes some helpful tips for you to refer to when making a planning application for a new mansard roof in a\u00a0conservation area.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0draft addendum specifically about the Fairfield Conservation Area contains a map of all the existing roof and ground-floor current extensions and recommendations for the \u00a0area, including a list of the\u00a0properties where a roof extension\/alterations might be considered acceptable, subject to a detailed planning application. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Not all properties\u00a0make that list.<\/span> It also doesn&#8217;t mean the planners will approve a full mansard roof: they may still insist on dormer extensions, which is what most\u00a0\u00a0existing roof extensions in\u00a0Wrexham\/Ridgedale are.<\/p>\n<p>These new guidance documents are subject to consultation until <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">18 January 2016.<\/span> \u00a0The documents are available on the council\u201fs website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.towerhamlets.gov.uk\/lgnl\/environment_and_planning\/planning\/planning_guidance\/consultation_and_engagement\/consultation_and_engagement.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">www.towerhamlets.gov.uk<\/a>: (Home &gt;Environment &amp; planning&gt;Planning&gt;Planning guidance&gt;Consultation and engagement).\u00a0Paper copies are also available in the planning reception at the\u00a0council&#8217;s\u00a0\u00a0Mulberry Place offices.
