Transport for London has\u00a0drawn up proposals designed\u00a0to improve pedestrian crossings at Bow roundabout.
\nIt will host\u00a0two public exhibitions\u00a0at \u00a0St Mary’s Church , 230 Bow Road on:
\nTuesday, 24 February from 3.30pm-7.30pm
\nSaturday, 14 March from 11am to 3pm<\/p>\n

Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions and the plans will be on display.

\nThe consultation closes on Wednesday, 1 April.<\/p>\n

Most residents would have recieved a letter outlining the proposals in the past few days, but you probably put it straight in the recycling.<\/p>\n

In brief, the plans include:
\n– new signallised pedestrian crossings linking Stratford High Street and Bow Road and the removal of unsignalised crossings
\n– new signalised pedestrian crossings on Bow Road and changes to the “early start” for cyclists
\n– new signalised pedestrian and cycle crossing on Stratford High Street and improved access to River Lea towpath
\n– Stratford High Street traffic islands merged into one large kerbed island<\/p>\n

While it will improve pedestrial saftey at some crossings, anyone wanting to cross from the McDonalds corner to the northern\u00a0towpath entrance, or from Bradley House corner\u00a0to the southern towpath entrance will have to use three or four signalled crossings.<\/p>\n

If the plans go ahead, work will start later this year and be finished by mid-2016.<\/p>\n

Tfl has longer-term plans to improve Bow Interchange and is looking at several options including\u00a0 removing the roundabout,\u00a0 removing the flyover, adding more pedestrian crossings and generally improving pedestrian and cycle connections across the A12 and Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach.\u00a0You can also view these proposals at tfl.gov.uk\/bow-vision<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
