To celebrate this major piece of work,\u00a0Bow Church has arranged a\u00a0series of events through summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 9 &#8211;\u00a0Summer Music:<\/strong><br \/>\nAn\u00a0evening of music performed by students from Queen Mary University of London, with soloists Matthew Powders, Alexandra Howe and Beth Graham. The concert ranges from Mozart (Piano Concerto no. 23) to arts songs, opera arias and jazz standards. The concert is given by QMUL Chamber Ensemble and QMUL Jazz All Stars. <i>Tickets on the door: \u00a37 (\u00a33 for concessions\/ students\/ QMUL alumni). Cash bar.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>June 10 &#8211; Bow church: then and now :<\/strong><br \/>\nPart of\u00a0&#8220;Cherishing Churchyards&#8221; week.\u00a0This will be a chance to visit the church and garden and learn something of the history of the site and its importance to Bow. There will be guided tours of the churchyard and church throughout the day.\u00a0Guides will\u00a0explain the ideas behind\u00a0the church&#8217;s\u00a0gardening project, as well as taking visitors to the Edgelands at the back of the church (leading into the Bow flyover). This event will also kick off\u00a0the\u00a0church&#8217;s\u00a0community programme which runs until early running into early 2018. The church is keen to hear from people who have any memories or photographs of the church and area around it. It will also be recruiting people to help research the church&#8217;s\u00a0history as part of\u00a0its volunteer engagement programme.\u00a0 <em>Midday to 4pm, free entry.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>June 17\/18- \u00a0Open Garden Squares Weekend:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe church is\u00a0taking part in OGSW for the second time, opening both days. There will be guided tours of the church and garden, and a chance to see how the garden project is developing.\u00a0The church\u00a0will also open up the Edgelands at the back of the church, leading into the Bow flyover.\u00a0<em> Midday to 4pm both days, free entry.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>August 19 &#8211; Summer Fair:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe\u00a0usual range of stalls and refreshments, plus childrens activities and guided tours of the church and garden, and a raffle. <em>Midday to 4pm. Free entry.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>September 16\/17 &#8211;\u00a0Open House:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe opening is part of Open House London, with guided tours of the church and garden, and a chance to see how work on the tower is progressing.\u00a0There\u00a0will\u00a0be a\u00a0talk by the architect working on the restoration project and a display of photographs taken during the work. <em>Midday to 4pm both days. Free entry.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>All events take place in the church and churchyard,\u00a0with offering plants and gardenalia for sale, plus the usual cakes and other refreshments.<\/p>\n<p>The church is also open every Saturday morning during the summer months, from 11.00 &#8211; 13.00, and you can see how work on the tower is being done. <i>The normal church services will continue while repairs to the tower are taking place.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>Bow Church is at 230 Bow Road E3 3AH How to reach us: Mile End, Bow Road and Bow Church stations are a short walk away.
